Here’s how to apply for your permanent resident status in Singapore.

1) Those who have a work visa, work permit, or S Pass

2) Foreign domestic workers with work permits

3) Study pass holders who have finished their whole course

How to Apply?

Singapore Permanent Residence (PR) is a visa-free status that enables holders to live, work, and study in Singapore indefinitely. Foreigners may seek for long-term residency in the country as well.

A person must work or be self-employed, have resided in Singapore for at least 5 years, and have a clean criminal record to be eligible for PR.

Bring along the document for the application

The documents you must provide with your application for Singapore Permanent Residence depend on the kind of visa you are applying for.

You must present the following papers if you are applying for a work visa:

– A copy of your current passport (2 copies)

– A duplicate of work permit (if applicable)

– Verification of employment

– A letter from your company stating that you have been hired as a full-time employee and providing salary details.

– 2 recent pay slips

– 2 recent bank statements displaying your salary and bank balance

If you are seeking for a student visa, you must provide the following documents:

– Passport photocopy (2 copies)

– Student identification card provided by the Ministry of Education or the Ministry of Manpower

– Your study routine

– Acceptance letter from the school to which you are applying

– A recent photograph (3×4 in size, facing towards the camera)

– Academic transcripts proving your ongoing education or study.

– A copy of your medical insurance card

The requirements are

The following are the prerequisites for applying for permanent residency in Singapore:

  1. You must be a Singaporean or a permanent resident of Singapore.
  2. Prior to applying, you must have lived in Singapore for at least 7 years.
  3. You must have been employed by an employer registered under Singapore’s Employment of Foreign Manpower Act (Cap. 49) for at least three of the five years before your application, and the contract must have been renewed during that period if it has not yet expired.
  4. If you are married to another citizen or permanent resident, your spouse must also be one of these things, and your marriage must have lasted at least three years at the time you apply – even if they are no longer married.
  5. You must have spent at least 3 of the 5 years before your application in Singapore.
  6. You must not have spent more than 90 days away from Singapore during in the application process – this means that if you spend more than 90 days overseas, you must wait until the following year to apply again.

How Long Does it Take ?

An application takes 3 to 6 months to process. This is owing to the fact that before awarding permanent resident status, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) must conduct a variety of checks and background checks.

The ICA also takes its time processing applications because it wants applicants to understand their rights and duties as permanent residents. The ICA also wants applicants to understand what they can do to preserve their rights.
